My first Glogster and feedback needed!

I had to create a Glogster for an assignment in my Educational Technology class. We could select any topic that we wanted. Since I did a booth at a preparedness night at church on food dehydration I thought I would make my Glogster on that. I need feedback from peers for my written reflection on the assignment so please take a look and share any feedback below in the comments section! Thanks!

School and Sammis

Remember when you were a kid and you came home from school and felt like you were STARVING? Yeah, that also happens when you go back to school as an adult. And I decided this week to give up my beloved diet soda. Do you know how hard it can be to drive past Sonic during the peak of happy hour???
Alright, enough whining and on the sammi. I was starving hungry when I got home so I wanted something quick for supper.

Turkey, Avocado, and Feta Pita Sammi

For each half sammi, layer in order:
1 pita pocket
1 big leaf romaine lettuce
1 smear of home made guacamole
2 thin slices of turkey
1/2 Roma tomato chopped
1/8 cup feta cheese
1/2 tablespoon Greek dressing

This is so filling and has great flavor. It was also quick to fix and didn't dirty any dishes other than the cutting board and a knife :)

What is your favorite sandwich?

Back to school

This past week I started back to school at Henderson State University.  I am excited and nervous all at the same time. But it is time to finish my education. Besides, with winter being here and me not being able to spend time outside I think I was driving Jason nuts. He started giving me pitiful looks when I iron and starched his socks. So back to school I went  ;)

I am in the Middle School Math and Science program. Once I finish I will be certified to teach grades 4-8 and will have my math/science endorsement, which is in high demand in Arkansas.

The problem with going back to school when your age is greater than the product of 15 and 2 is that you feel REALLY REALLY OLD. And I wore my grey slacks and a heather blue sweater with sensible black flats. Apparently the uniform of HSU female students is skinny jeans tucked into your boots. I was already feeling pretty out of place when I walked into my noon class and asked the girl sitting next to me about her Kindle Fire since hubby is thinking I may need one for my birthday. I asked her if she liked it and she looked my square in the eye and said "Yes Ma'am". I nearly died. And then we discovered that we graduated from the same high school, about 13 years apart.  And I am only 7 years younger than her mom. *sigh*

On the upside I am more educated and experienced than these kids who were just born 20 or so years ago. Right?

Homemaker, Stay at Home (doggy) Mom, (future) House Wife, Unemployed...

Well the first day back from our vacation, I got notified that due to an ongoing consolidation of North American locations of my company I was out of a job. So as of late last week, I am a full time homemaker. My feelings are so mixed about this turn of events. I started my first job when I was 13 years old and, other than a few weeks during transitions, I have always worked.
Jason's advice is to enjoy this time at home and focus on my college work for a little while. I appreciate him so much. He is so supportive.

So for the time being I have a ton of projects that I am going to work on at home. I am excited for the opportunity to spend some time making our home a nicer, more organized, happier place. :)

Back to School

As of today, I am officially a student of the UALR College of Engineering and Technology. I know what you are thinking...how many majors have you had now? BUT, this is the one I will finish. My manager at work wants me to do this program, and I want the money I will make after I finish this program, and I like the security that an engineering degree provides.

So I pulled out my trusty backpack and am filling it with school supplies. I know I am a nut, but I think school supplies are so much fun to buy. Those new pencils and notebooks just SCREAM with promise and ambition

I am VERY ashamed to show the current state of my desk in my home office, but maybe it will shame me into cleaning up this MESS. I think it is VERY important to have a clean desk to start the semester off right.

So if I seem a bit stressed the next few months, please forgive me. Between working full time, going to school nearly full time, and keeping a home, I might be a bit frazzled.

Certified Quality Auditor

On June 5, 2010 I took the 5 hour American Society for Quality Certified Quality Auditor Exam. As you can see from the nifty logo up top, I PASSED! I am pretty excited about earning my first ASQ certification. I am trying to decide if I should test for my Certified Quality Engineer exam in December, or wait for a year. Since I am going back to UALR in the fall to continue my Mechanical Engineering Degree, it may be better to wait. We shall see... But in the mean time, I PASSED! :)
